It’s always interesting when a customer uh of a service business, you know, like a like a construction company or law firm or any type of other business goes online to air their grievances instead of just approaching the business directly and looking for a resolution professionally. Unfortunately, it happens all too often where a customer will go online, air their grievances, and threaten to sue a company who’s a client of ours. What I tell my clients who experience uh those types of threats

is one of two um types of actions that that they could take. Number one, you could reach out to the customer if you’re comfortable with that and seek to resolve it through some sort of formal settlement in exchange for them removing the nasty content off the internet. This works in some situations. Sometimes the customer just wants a refund or something else or an acknowledgement or an apology. Uh whatever you have to do. The other option is to just ignore them. Um, and sometimes we advise that as

well. Depending on the facts and the circumstances involved, it may be just an empty threat and it may not be all that damaging to the reputation of the company involved. And maybe you just ignore it and see if they sue.
