Shareholder Dispute Lawyer Broomfield, CO
Shareholders have specific rights and expectations of the corporations they have a stake in, and certain expectations of the company’s Board of Directors and executives. The company managers are responsible for making the company a profitable success, but often, disputes between what shareholders may want (more profit distribution, growth in a more profitable direction) may be at odds with the direction the Board or C-suite executives, who may want to reinvest much of the profits into business development or equipment. This is one of the most common types of shareholder disputes, but it’s not the only one. Our Broomfield shareholder dispute lawyer is here to help mediate them all.
Depending on your corporation’s bylaws and operating protocols, shareholders may have a significant say in operations, or be mostly silent investors, whose only participation is attending the annual meeting. Many businesses fall somewhere in between; we’re familiar with the challenges each operating practice presents and can advise you on your legal options in the dispute and potential resolutions, based on your corporation’s practices.
Left unaddressed, shareholder disputes can fester to the point of a takeover. We don’t want that, and you don’t either. Instead, let our attorneys help you address the matter, give you options to weigh, and provide negotiation and mediation services on your behalf.
We also represent shareholders with valid concerns about the company’s direction or the actions of its managers. If there is financial mismanagement or misappropriation, we take steps to help shareholders assert their rights and solve the problem. We may recommend reporting any suspected embezzlement, as this may be a criminal matter. We also advise shareholders of their eligibility for damages if the misappropriation was significant.
Many shareholder disputes can be resolved amicably when both sides are willing to compromise. However, when the dispute is more serious and involves gross mismanagement, you need an experienced team of attorneys to address it.
